Providence Woods started around 1983 for buyers looking for large wooded lots close to Charlotte. This neighborhood is conveniently located on the border of Mecklenburg and Union counties, so it has easy access to Matthews or the new Waverly area. The homes are typically on lots of 1 acre to 3 acres in size with a variety of design styles including stucco, tudors, colonials, and even a log home (shown below) that I had the pleasure of selling. The interiors can range from around 2,000 square feet to over 5,000 square feet with some homes having basements. Prices vary considerably based on the condition and updating of the property, but generally range anywhere from the $300’s to the $600’s.
Homeowners’ dues are around $110 per year. There are no amenities in Providence Woods. However, the Weddington Swim & Racquet Club is located just across Weddington-Matthews Road and within walking distance from some homes.
Neighborhood children in Union county are zoned for Antioch Elementary, Weddington Middle, and Weddington High Schools for the 2018-2019 school year. Mecklenburg properties are zoned for McKee Road Elementary, Jay M. Robinson Middle, and Providence High Schools.
