There have been a lot of changes going on in Weddington as the market re-energizes! Inventory is low as buyers are searching for homes within the well-respected Weddington school district. Permits for new homes were up to 84 in 2012 compared to 51 in 2011 and only 34 in 2010. Planning for the new Vintage Creek subdivision is underway. The old, abandoned house on Providence Road next to Weddington Church may finally be coming down as the Council approved the rezoning for a 15,000 sq ft office building. Weddington also had its first homecoming complete with a parade, bonfire, and school floats.
The results from the Land Use Plan Survey are back with 97.6% of residents rating Weddington as an excellent or good place to live. Low taxes and great schools were the top two things that respondents appreciated about living in Weddington. Sit down restaurants and greenways were the most favored additions that Weddington could make to improve the quality of life for its residents.
Things to look forward to in 2013 include the Easter Egg Hunt on March 23 and the Country Festival on September 21.
