Aero Plantation is one of the most unique neighborhoods in Union county offering a private airstrip, a suspension bridge, and many beautiful lakes. There is an eclectic mix of homes including grand European, hard-to-find contemporary, traditional brick, and low country beauties. Residents in Aero enjoy the privacy that expansive wooded acreage and private roads bring to their community. There is ample space for outdoor activities including three holes for golf practice as well as tennis courts, lakes, and a suspension bridge. The community hosts an annual picnic for residents where they gather in the hangar for some good food and to connect with their neighbors.
Home prices vary greatly within the subdivision and can range from the $500’s into the millions depending on size, age, location, and level of updating. The smallest homes start around 2300 square feet and go up to well over 7,000 square feet. Aero Plantation began back in the late 1960’s and helped set the tone for the current laid-back lifestyle of Weddington, offering executive homes with room to spread out while still in close proximity to Charlotte. The expansive lots range from around 2-3 acres up to over 10 acres. The homes are serviced by individual well and septic systems. The homeowners dues are around $1,240 per year.
Many local pilots find the neighborhood attractive for the ability to have their own personal airplane hanger or to store their small plane in the neighborhood hangar. The roads within Aero Plantation are private and therefore it is not recommended that you explore the subdivision on your own. Planes always have the right of way if encountered along one of the streets en route to their home or the airstrip!
School-aged children are currently zoned for all Weddington schools for the 2015-2016 school year which are located just around the corner.
